Proposal for Extra Reception Class Places within the Rochdale Borough.

Notice is given that Rochdale Local Authority is considering providing extra reception class places across the Borough in order to ensure the availability of places meets the current and projected demands.

The Local Authority will undertake consultation on the proposal to provide extra reception class places at the following schools within the Rochdale Borough:

Heywood Township:

For September 2015 the Authority has agreed to provide extra Reception class places above the Planned Admission Number to provide 30 extra places at St Luke’s CE and 15 extra places at St Joseph’s RC.

Middleton Township:

The proposal for 2016, 2017 and 2018 are to:

• Increase the admission capacity at Bowlee Park for 90 to 120 places and to consider whether this should be a permanent enlargement, to take account of further potential housing developments in Middleton.
• Increase the admission capacity at Boarshaw CP for 30 to 60 places for a further 2 years, i.e.2017 and 2018 (subject to review).

Pennines Township:

The proposal is to increase the number of school places at Moorhouse CP to take the admission number from 30 to 60 places.

Rochdale Township:

Based on the distribution of births the proposal is to:

• admit a further 30 children to Sandbrook School in each of 2016 & 2017; and
• Undertake a further detailed analysis of expected demand across the township for 2016 & 2017 to ensure there are enough places for a margin of flexibility.
