Bowling Green Funding

Thank you to everyone who took part in the survey. On 11 February 2025 the council’s cabinet committee determined that the proposal would not be progressed. On that basis, the consultation has closed.
Overview
This introduction provides an overview of a proposal regarding changes to bowling green funding. We are consulting with clubs via a survey to gather feedback and suggestions.
Why Change Funding?
The Council needs to save money due to budget pressures and the loss of £60,000 in funding by 2026/27 (£30,000 from this next fiscal year)
Main Plan:
- Work with bowling clubs to share maintenance costs.
- Save money due to funding cuts.
Why This Plan?
- To balance the budget.
- To keep services running with less money.
- To reduce costs from old assets.
Other Ideas:
- Stopping maintenance and letting clubs handle it was considered but not chosen.
Current Funding:
- £60,000 per year is being cut, starting with £30,000 in 2025/26.
