Disabled Facilities Grant Consultation

Closes 24 Oct 2022

Opened 26 Sep 2022

The Home Improvement Agency service provides a range of home adaptations for residents in the borough, such as walk-in showers, ramps and stairlifts.

Over 350 residents and families benefit from home adaptations every year, helping to enhance their lives and maintain independent living.

We are looking to further enhance and improve our service, helping to ensure our range of adaptations provide a more customer focussed service for our residents

Current Position

As a result of the covid pandemic and national supply issues, some residents are waiting longer for their adaptation to be completed. Our proposals aim to improve the customer experience by providing a more efficient service for our residents and being clearer with residents about what they can expect from an adaptation to their home.

Reason for consultation

The aim of the consultation is to:

  • Seek residents’ views on our adaptations policy and the changes and clarifications  we are proposing,  which we believe improve our service, giving residents more choice and control over their home adaptations and improve understanding of the offer, in line with Legislation

We are particularly keen to hear from residents who have previously had adaptations or are currently on the waiting list for an adaptation such as a ramp, walk-in shower or stairlift.

Please read the attachments at the bottom of the page that outline the changes made to the policy before answering the questions within the survey.
