Disabled Facilities Grant Consultation
Overview
The Home Improvement Agency service provides a range of home adaptations for residents in the borough, such as walk-in showers, ramps and stairlifts.
Over 350 residents and families benefit from home adaptations every year, helping to enhance their lives and maintain independent living.
We are looking to further enhance and improve our service, helping to ensure our range of adaptations provide a more customer focussed service for our residents
Current Position
As a result of the covid pandemic and national supply issues, some residents are waiting longer for their adaptation to be completed. Our proposals aim to improve the customer experience, by providing a more efficient service for our residents and being clearer with residents about what they can expect from an adaptation to their home. This survey is not directly linked to individual adaptations for residents currently undergoing or waiting for a home adaptation, but their views are important and will help us to understand how the policy can be changed to improve their experience.
Reason for consultation
The aim of the consultation is to:
- Get views on our adaptations policy and how it can continue to enhance people’s lives and support independent living
- Get feedback from residents who have previously had home adaptations such as grab rails, walk in showers and stairlifts
- Hear from residents currently on the waiting list for a home adaptation.
