What happens next

Approval of Statutory Proposals for the Enlargement of Bowlee Park CP, Windermere Road, Middleton, DfE Number 354/3513

The reason for this letter is to tell you that the Local Authority has now approved the statutory proposals to increase the number of places at the school from 90 to 120 with effect from 1st September 2016.

At its meeting held on 25th January 2016, the Council’s Cabinet, as the Decision Maker, considered the statutory proposal published Rochdale Borough Council to make a prescribed alteration to Bowlee Park CP School. The proposal is to enlarge Bowlee Park CP School to 840 places with a PAN of 120, with effect from 1st September 2016.

I am writing to inform you that, having considered a full report on the proposal and taking account of representations to the published proposals and the considerations required by statutory guidance, the Cabinet has given approval the proposal to enlarge Bowlee Park CP School subject to the granting of planning consent for the required building work, by 31st August 2016. The call-in period for Cabinet decisions has passed and the decision can now be implemented.

The reasons for the decision are that additional school places are required in this part of the Borough over the next few years. Also the previous increase in places at the school, together with the proposed additional accommodation means that the Local Authority would meet the threshold for the publication of statutory proposals.

The Local Authority will implement the proposals.
