Notice of Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places

Closed 27 Jul 2018

Opened 2 Jul 2018

Overview

The Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places (Parliamentary Elections) Regulations 2006

Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013

The Electoral Administration Act 2013 included a new provision altering the timing of statutory reviews of parliamentary polling districts and polling places.

This review must be completed and implemented by the end of December 2018, so for the changes to be included in the register on 1 December this year, Full Council must consider and confirm the proposals at their meeting on 17 October 2018.

We are looking for feedback on any aspect of polling districts and/or polling places currently used and invite representation and comments from interested persons.

Local political parties and Councillors will be consulted and views are invited from electors within the Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council area as well as such persons as may have particular expertise in relation to access to premises or facilities for persons who have different forms of disability.

Local community groups will also be consulted.

The consultation period for the review will commence on Monday 2nd July 2018 and will end on Friday 27th July 2018.

Although the review is of polling districts and polling places it is accepted that polling stations are inexorably linked to the review and comments are invited regarding those stations currently used and/or any suggested alternatives.

Information regarding the current polling districts and places can be found on the website or at the following Customer Service Centres and libraries from Monday 2nd July 2018: www.rochdale.gov.uk/elections
