Housing Allocation Policy Survey
Overview
The Council is required by law to have a Housing Allocation Policy which sets out who can access social housing and who will be given priority.
As the Council doesn’t own any homes, Registered Housing Providers advertise their available accommodation on the Council’s Housing Solutions website.
Residents who want to be rehoused apply to be included on the Council’s Housing Register. Once their application has been assessed and made ‘live’ residents can place an expression of interest on properties they would like to be considered for.
The policy principles we are consulting on, prioritises those residents to say who should be successful and who should be given preference to the properties.
The consultation is asking for views on some of the proposed changes.
