Derby Street Nursery School Closure

Update:

At the Council’s Cabinet meeting held on 23rd March 2015, the statutory proposal was considered to close Derby Street Nursery School and the proposal has now been approved.

The reasons for the decision are that:

• There are currently no pupils on roll at the school.
• There are enough places elsewhere in the Heywood Township that are OfSTED graded good or better, to meet overall demand.

The changes will take effect from 31st March 2015.

Derby Street Nursery School, Heywood – Proposal for Closure from March 2015

Notice is given in accordance with section 15(1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 that Rochdale Borough Council, Number One Riverside, Smith Street, ROCHDALE, OL16 1XU, intends to discontinue Derby Street Nursery School, Derby Street, Heywood, OL10 4QJ on 31st March 2015.

Consultation on the proposed closure was carried out between 6th October 2014 and 23rd November 2014 and all statutory consultation requirements relating to this proposal have been complied with.

Derby Street Nursery School has places for 39 full-time equivalent nursery age children. There are currently no pupils on roll at the school. There are enough places elsewhere in the Heywood Township that are OfSTED graded good or better, to meet overall demand.
