Outline of Proposal

Having researched best practice and met with a number North West Local Authorities with established Apprenticeship Programmes, a series of revisions and recommendations to RMBC’s scheme have been agreed, which mean we can reduce the budget by £82k.

RMBC Skills Team has aligned other funding streams such as the GM Commitment to Youth Unemployment and The Youth Contract to ensure the momentum to increase numbers of young people accessing Apprenticeship opportunities at RMBC and across GM is maintained.

RMBC’s own commitment to increasing opportunities for young people, as identified in the equalities impact assessment will be maintained as planned.

General Impact

The proposal has no staffing, financial, impact on voluntary sectors or legal implications arising from this report.

Impact on Service Users

There will be no impact on service users as partnership arrangements are in place across the borough and sub region to ensure that the momentum for Apprenticeship and work experience growth continues. RMBC and its partners including training providers, schools and employers are fully committed to growth in this area.

There is no direct impact on service users.

The indicative saving for this proposal is £82,000.

We have undertaken an Equality Impact Assessment to identify likely or actual effects on people with protected characteristics. The Equality Impact Assessment will be reviewed and updated as required, taking account of consultation feedback.
