Removal of payment to schools, which allows schools to offer reduced room hire charges to community groups.

Overall impact of proposed change

The Council budget which pays schools to offer subsidised room lets to specific community groups will be removed.

Schools may choose to offer room hire charges at the reduced level.

Impact on affected service users

If schools do not continue to offer the room let at the reduced rate, community groups will need to decide whether to pay the increased rate or to use alternative community venues, such as libraries or community centres.
