Outline of Proposal

We are proposing a change in the Youth Service provision which includes the proposed closure of the Gower Street Youth Base and The Strand shop, and the proposed disposal of one of the two Youth Service Mobile buses that are currently used to deliver Youth Services across the borough.

General Impact

A reduction in the amount of weekly face to face sessions available for young people to access and a reduction in a range of settings that young people can access the service.

Impact on Service Users

There will be a reduced offer in terms of the number of face to face sessions available to young people and a reduction in the number of delivery locations.

Savings Total:  £200,000 on-going saving in 2016/17 and 2017/18

The Council is assessing the potential equality impact which the proposals may have and are undertaking full Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs) where this is appropriate.The EIAs are draft working documents which are to be developed over time. 

This means that as further detail becomes available through the consultation process the EIAs  will be updated and finalised before a final decision is reached.
