Outline of Proposal

The Community Safety section of Customers and Communities is responsible for commissioning a range of services to minimize crime and disorder in the borough.  One service which is commissioned is the provision of the CCTV contract to ensure coverage of Rochdale, Heywood and Middleton town centres.  The service provided is currently of a high level, with an upgraded and well stocked control centre.  It is proposed to reduce the funding we provide for this service by £30,000.  All efforts will be made to work with the service provider and ensure that any impact of this proposal on crime and disorder in the borough is kept to a minimum.       

General Impact

The reduction in funding may impact on the level of CCTV coverage available in the Borough.

Impact on Service Users    

Any reduction in CCTV coverage may impact on Crime and Disorder and thereby affect service users / residents.

The indicative saving for this proposal is £30,000.

As the proposal will affect service users, we have undertaken an Equality Impact Assessment to identify likely or actual effects on people with protected characteristics. The Equality Impact Assessment will be reviewed and updated as required, taking account of consultation feedback.
