Planning Services for adults with learning disabilities

Overview

Adult Care & Support are currently planning what services are needed within the budgets we have. Services for people with learning disabilities will be affected by these changes; therefore, we are developing a new strategy for how we buy services, based on what we see as priority outcomes and services for the future. Therefore, we are proposing to review all services and develop a set of new commissioning priorities around:

• Supported Living
• Respite
• IndependencePlus
• Keyring/Social Networking
• Core and cluster model
• Shared Lives
• Floating Support
• Employment
• Self Directed Support
• Residential (2012/13)
• Day Services (2012/13)

A crucial part of this work has been to involving partners, providers, service users and carers and families in this process so that they can help to shape and develop future services in the Borough. We have received a significant amount of feedback and because of the amount of feedback received, it has taken us longer to go through this and draw up draft priorities for future services. For this reason, we have now extended the final period of consultation until 4^th February 2012, to give you chance to add any further comments on the commissioning priorities document. The document summarises the key points emerging from the consultation feedback to date, together with draft priorities for services for the future and draft outcomes that will form part of our Learning Disability Strategy.
