School Admission Arrangements 2013-14

Overview

The Local Authority has to determine admission arrangements for the September 2013 admission round by 15th April 2012. The Authority has already consulted with school governing bodies and others in the Autumn Term.

The purpose of this document (attached below) is to set out the final consultation on:

  • Co-ordinated Admissions Scheme for 2013-14;
  • Within-Year Transfer Policy 2013-14;
  • Admission Policy for Community and Voluntary Controlled Schools 2013-14; and
  • Planned Admission Numbers for September 2013.

The new Admissions and Appeals Codes are due to be published in February 2012. The Local Authority is proposing to continue with the current policies with changes that are either to comply with the requirements of the Code, or to provide clarification on the current policy. This is subject to any Guidance that might be issued on the Codes before the determination date.

Consultation on the need for additional Reception Class places for September 2012 and Planned Admission Numbers for September 2013 for Primary Schools is being undertaken separately, to take account of recent trends in demand and pupil numbers.

For Secondary schools the proposed admission numbers are as for September 2012, although, because of the progress of the Building Schools for the Future Programme (BSF), the technical detail for many schools is the subject of change.
